Korean listening practice #15 My dream place
Welcome to Part 15 of our Korean listening practice series!
Today, we’ll focus on expressions related to “Place to live”!
I have lived in Seoul for over seven years, and while there are many pros, I didn’t enjoy my time there as much. It was too crowded and hectic. Even though Korea is 70% covered by nature, I always felt that there wasn’t much diversity in natural scenery due to the country’s small size.
In this post, I’ll describe my ideal place to live, and I’d love to hear your opinions too.
Where do you want to live? In a big house or a small apartment?
Let’s learn some useful expressions related to this topic. By the end, you’ll be able to discuss where you want to live with others!
<How to study>
1. Get to know important vocab and become acquainted with grammar concepts.
2. Watch the video without subtitles initially, then review with subtitles.
3. Listen repeatedly and mimic the speaker. Aim to listen at least once daily until you’re comfortable with the sentence structures and expressions.

저는 서울에서 7년을 살았어요. 서울은 사람이 많고 복잡해요.
I lived in Seoul for 7 years. There’s a lot of people and crowded in Seoul.
주말에는 어딜 가도 많이 기다려야 해요.
I have to wait a lot everywhere I go on weekends.
저는 자연을 좋아하는데, 서울에는 자연보다 빌딩이 더 많아요.
I like nature, but Seoul has more buildings than nature.
한국은 모든 것이 편리하고 빠르지만, 너무 작은 나라라서 여행할 곳이 많지 않아요.
Everything is convenient and fast in Korea, Because It’s such a small country, there aren’t many places to travel.
우리는 모두 아파트에 살고, 집도 작은 편이에요.
We all live in apartments, and our houses are rather small.
저는 조금 덜 편리하고 조금 덜 빠르더라도, 여유롭고 자연이 많은 곳에서 살고 싶어요.
Even if it’s a little less convenient and a little less fast, I want to live in a place that is relaxed and has a lot of nature.
주말에 시간이 나면 산으로 캠핑을 가거나, 아침에 일어나서 바다에서 수영을 하고 싶어요.
When I have time on the weekend, I want to go camping in the mountains, or I wake up in the morning and swim in the sea.
저는 바다를 굉장히 좋아해요. 바다 옆에 작은 집을 지어서 사는 것이 꿈이에요.
I really like the ocean. My dream is to build a small house and live by the sea.
나만의 정원도 가지고 싶어요. 다양한 과일 나무를 기르고 강아지 집도 지을 거예요.
I want to have my own garden, too. I will grow various fruit trees and build a dog house.
강아지는 3마리, 고양이는 2마리 키우고 싶어요!
I want to have three dogs and two cats!
여러분은 어떤 집에서, 어떤 곳에서 어떻게 살고 싶나요?
What kind of house and where, how would you like to live?
