Korean listening practice #11 Cleaning 청소
Welcome to Part 11 of our Korean listening practice series!
Today, we’ll focus on expressions related to Cleaning!
Do you like to clean? (I don’t! haha) Do you know how to say ‘Do the dishes’ or ‘Do the laundry’ in Korean?
What’s your routine before going to sleep? Brushing your teeth, washing your face, etc.? In this post, we’ll learn all these expressions related to cleaning and household chores in Korean. From tidying up to daily routines, you’ll be able to talk about all your chores with confidence!
<How to study>
1. Get to know important vocab and become acquainted with grammar concepts.
2. Watch the video without subtitles initially, then review with subtitles.
3. Listen repeatedly and mimic the speaker. Aim to listen at least once daily until you’re comfortable with the sentence structures and expressions.

주말 아침마다 청소를 하려고 해요. 아침에 일어나서 먼저 침대를 정리해요.
I try to clean every weekend morning. I get up in the morning and make my bed first.
그리고 창문을 열어요. 화장실로 가서 세수를 하고 양치를 해요.
And I open the window. I go to the bathroom, wash my face and brush my teeth.
그 후에 머리를 감고 샤워를 해요. 샤워를 한 후에, 부엌으로 가요.
After that, I wash my hair and take a shower. After showering, I go to the kitchen.
설거지를 하고, 냉장고도 정리해요. 상한 음식이나 오래된 음식을 버려요.
I wash the dishes and organize the refrigerator. Throw away rotten food or old food.
우리 집은 강아지를 키우기 때문에, 강아지 털이 많아요. 자주 청소기를 돌려야 해요.
Because I raise a dog, there is a lot of dog hair. You have to vacuum frequently.
거실로 가서 청소기를 돌려요. 가끔 바닥도 닦아요.
I go to the living room and vacuum. Sometimes I also clean the floor.
집에서 신발 안 신기 때문에, 바닥도 자주 청소하려 해요.
Since I don’t wear shoes at home, I try to clean the floor frequently.
그다음은 물건들을 정리하고, 옷도 정리해서 옷장에 넣어요.
Then I organize things, organize my clothes and put them in my closet.
더러운 옷들은 세탁기에 넣어요.
I put dirty clothes in the washing machine.
이불과 베개도 세탁기에 넣어요. 빨래를 돌리고, 잠시 쉬어요.
I put blankets and pillows in the washing machine. I wash clothes, rest a little.
빨래가 끝나면 빨래를 개요.
When the washing machine finishes, I fold the clothes.
옷을 다 개면 주말 청소는 끝이에요.
When I fold all my clothes, it’s the end of the weekend cleaning.
청소는 항상 하기 싫어요.
