Personally, I’ve learned English and Spanish by myself, and through my language learning journey, I’ve picked up some pretty good tips for studying languages! Of course, each person has their own way of studying, but I’d like to share some of my tips.

오늘은 내가 어떻게 영어와 스페인어를 배웠는지 얘기 해 볼게요. 저는 20살에 영어공부를 시작했어요.
Today I will tell you how I learned English and Spanish. I started studying English when I was 20.

그 전에 학교에서 문법과 단어는 많이 배웠지만, 제대로 말은 못 했어요.
Before that, I learned a lot of grammar and vocabulary at school, but I couldn’t speak properly.

매일 미국 드라마와 유투브를 보면서 따라했어요.
I mimicked while watching American dramas and YouTube every day.

모르는 문장을 적고, 문장 전체를 외웠어요.
I wrote down sentences I didn’t know and memorized the entire sentences.

문법은 많이 공부하지 않고, 외국인 친구들과 대화를 많이 했어요.
I didn’t study much grammar, but talked a lot with foreign friends.

하고 싶은 말이 있을 때마다 인터넷에 번역기로 찾으면서 대화를 했어요.
Whenever I wanted to say something, I communicated while looking up on the Internet using a translator.

혼자 있을 때도 영어로 말을 하려고 했고, 모르는 것은 계속 찾아 봤어요.
Even when I was alone, I tried to speak English and kept looking up things I didn’t know.

그래서 아직도 문법은 잘 모르는데, 대화는 문제 없이 할 수 있어요.
So, I still don’t know well about grammar, but I can have a conversation without any problems.

스페인어도 똑같았어요. 일단 단어와 문장들을 외우고, 말을 많이 하려고 했어요.
Spanish was the same. First, I tried to memorize words and sentences and talk a lot.

항상 스페인 친구들과 놀았고, 모르는 것은 친구한테 물어봤어요.
I always hung out with my Spanish friends and asked them about things I didn’t know.

실수해도 괜찮아요. 언어는 실수를 하면서 배우는 것이에요.
It’s okay to make mistakes. Language is learned by making mistakes.

많이 듣고, 많이 따라하세요. 혼잣말도 많이 하세요.
Listen a lot and mimic a lot. Talk to yourself a lot, too.

꾸준히 노력하면, 언젠가는 한국어를 잘 할 수 있을 거예요!
If you make an effort consistently, one day you will be able to speak Korean well!
