Welcome to Part 5 of our Korean listening practice series!



Today, we’ll focus on expressions related to school days, offering you a wealth of useful phrases for your everyday life.
How many friends did you have? What did you use to do as a kid? We will learn all those words and expressions together!

1. Get to know important vocab and become acquainted with grammar concepts.
2. Watch the video without subtitles initially, then review with subtitles.
3. Listen repeatedly and mimic the speaker. Aim to listen at least once daily until you’re comfortable with the sentence structures and expressions.

나는 초등학교 때 친한 친구가 3명 있었어요.
I had 3 close friends in elementary school.

학교 끝나고 항상 같이 놀았어요.
We always hung out together after school.

학교 방학 때는 피아노와 수영을 배웠어요. 공부도 꽤 열심히 했어요.
During school holidays, I learned the piano and swimming. I also studied pretty hard.

중학교 때는 게임을 많이 했어요.
When I was in middle school, I played a lot of games.

방학 때는 집에서 하루 종일 게임만 했어요.
During vacation, I played games all day at home.

부모님이 자주 화나셨어요. 만화책도 많이 읽고 공부를 많이 안 했어요.
My parents were often angry. I read a lot of comic books and didn’t study much.

고등학교 때는 공부를 정말 열심히 했어요.
In high school, I studied really hard.

고등학교 3학년 때는 아침 8시부터 새벽 1시까지 공부를 했어요.
When I was in my third year of high school, I studied from 8:00 AM to 1:00 AM.

학교에서 밤 11시까지 공부하고 독서실에 갔어요.
I studied until 11pm at school and went to the study room.

주말 동안에는 학원에 갔어요.
During the weekend, I went to an academy.

스트레스를 많이 받아서, 살도 많이 쪘어요.
I was stressed out, so I gained a lot of weight.

공부하면서 간식과 과자를 많이 먹었어요.
I ate a lot of snacks and sweets while studying.

운동도 못하고 친구들이랑도 못 놀았어요.
I couldn’t exercise or hang out with my friends.

좋은 대학에 가고 싶어서, 공부를 열심히 했어요.
I wanted to go to a good university, so I studied hard.

고등학교가 끝나고 대학교에 가기 전에, 운동도 열심히 하고 건강하게 먹었어요.
After high school and before going to university, I exercised hard and ate healthy.

2개월 동안 살을 많이 뺄 수 있었어요.
I was able to lose a lot of weight in 2 months.

처음으로 빵집에서 아르바이트도 했어요.
I also had a part-time job at a bakery for the first time.

아직까지 중*고등학교 친구들과 연락해요.
I still keep in touch with my middle school and high school friends.

가끔 어릴 때가 그리워요.
 I miss my childhood sometimes.

특히 중학교 때는 걱정 없이 게임만 했어요. 행복했었어요.
Especially in middle school, I played a lot of games without any worries. I was happy.
